GCC: Open auditions slated for spring theater production at GCC
February 21, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Open auditions for the “Marco Millions” by Eugene O’Neill will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 and 22 at Glendale Community College.
The spring production will be produced by the college’s theater arts department.
Those auditioning should read and become familiar with the play, which takes a satirical look at Marco Polo’s journeys to China, ancient Persia and India.
Sides from the play will be read at the auditions. Those selected to perform in the production will be required to take two theater arts courses.
Stage managers and technical operators will also be needed for the production. Those interested in behind-the-scenes roles should call (818) 240-1000, Ext. 5635. Crew members must enroll in a technical theater course.
For more information about the auditions or the theater arts department, visit glendale.edu/theatre or call (818) 240-1000, Ext. 5618.
Spring registration continues
Open registration continues through Feb. 15 for the spring 2018 semester at Glendale Community College. The semester will begin Feb. 20.
The college application is online and can be found at glendale.edu/apply. New students must submit an application for admission before registering for courses. The college offers a live chat for general application and registration information. Go to the home page and click “live chat.”
This spring, there are courses in subjects from accounting to welding. There are still openings in several classes.
The welding/metallurgy department holds classes primarily in the afternoons and evenings to accommodate the schedules of working students. The program’s curriculum is designed to meet the needs of both certificate and transfer students.
Occupational welding is a two-year program designed to prepare students for entry into the welding field as a combination welder. The emphasis is on students earning welding certification at the completion of the required courses.
Some of the courses required for the certification include “Engineering Print Reading for Industry,” “General Welding,” “Occupational Welding,” “Advanced Welding Procedures” and “Principles of Metallurgy and Heat Treating.”
Check the online class schedule for openings in all of the spring classes at glendale.edu/schedules. Click spring to select the term and the subjects are listed alphabetically.
For those interested in starting classes in fall 2018, follow the deadlines listed on the checklist at glendale.edu/checklist to be eligible for priority registration. The schedule will be available online in early April.
