Three Films by Mariam Ohanyan to screen at Abril Bookstore

Glendale, CA – Abril Bookstore’s ARMENIAN FILM SOCIETY will present a screening of three short documentaries by Armenian filmmaker MARIAM OHANYAN, who is currently the director of KIN International Women’s Film Festival in Armenia, followed by a SKYPE discussion with the director from Yerevan, on FRIDAY, MARCH 2, 2018 at 7:30pm at ABRIL BOOKSTORE – 415 E. Armenia: Invisible Country «Հայաստանն` անտեսանելի երկիր է» (2013, 12 min.) is about the falsifications of Armenian history done by the British Museum of London. We are from Ani «Մենք Անիից ենք» (2014, 26. min) covers the Armenian heritage of Transylvania. The Guardian of Tsughrut «Ծուղրութի պահապան» (2014, 17 min ) presents the history of the Gospel of Hovhanes created in Erzerum in 974AD.
MARIAM OHANYAN is a producer, director and writer who was born in Yerevan, Armenia. She graduated from Yerevan State University Department of Applied Mathematics and continued as a post-graduate student of the Department of Sociology, attending courses in filmmaking. She has participated in different film festivals and received prizes. Since 2000, she has been the director of Legal Gender Cultural Foundation LIZA. Since 2004 she has been the director of International Women’s Film Festival “KIN.” She is a member of Armenian Union of Cinematographers.
