Comic Cure presents INTRO TO STAND-UP COMEDY

This is your introduction to stand up comedy! In this workshop students of all experience levels will learn stand up comedy writing including joke structure and performance techniques with the goal of becoming confident and comfortable on stage. This class is specially tailored towards both beginning comics who want to learn where to begin and professionals who want to brush up on the basic fundamentals of stand-up comedy in a fun, safe environment! By the end of this class you’ll have a 3-minute comedy set and a foundation from which to build. In this class you’ll learn the following:
– Basic Joke Structure
– Joke Writing Techniques
– Stage Presence
– Basic Performance Techniques
– Do’s and Don’ts

Richy Leis Comedy Comedian Black and White Portrait

Richy Leis has been producing and performing in comedy shows for 18 years. Richy is the Creative Director for Comic Cure producing shows in the Los Angeles area with some of the best names in comedy such as Dana Carvey (SNL), Craig Robinson (The Office), Whitney Cummings (Chelsea Lately), David Koechner (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy) and many more. His résumé includes booking 50 comedy shows per week with 12,000 talent spots per year for one of the biggest comedy clubs in the Los Angeles area. His notable work is co-creating the Burbank Comedy Festival (www.burbankcomedyfestival.com) in Burbank, CA. Now in its 5th year, the Burbank Comedy Festival spans an entire week featuring celebrity comedy shows, podcasts, classes, workshops, after parties, and industry panels, networking comedians of all levels directly with the top agents, reps, managers and club, college and TV bookers, showcasing more than 300 comedians. Richy has taught more than 2,000 students of all levels the ins and outs of stand-up comedy.

Richy hosted the pilot taping of Dana Carvey’s First Impressions TV show on the USA Network. Richy has appeared on Lifetime’s Little Women:LA, Regular Skype caller on TMZ Live, Jamie Kaler Power Hour-Blue Collar Channel on Sirius/Xm, MTV’s Is She Really Going Out With Him, VH1’s Basketball Wives.
